A Hard Drive's Gonna Fail marks the long-awaited return of Salaryman, the instrumental electronic project formed in 1996 by members of indie rock pioneers Poster Children. Rick Valentin, Rose Marshack, Jim Valentin, and Howie Kantoff traded guitars for synthesizers to create a unique fusion of electronic music, post-rock, krautrock, and groove-based instrumental composition inspired equally by Kraftwerk, Booker T. & the M.G.'s, and Can. After releasing three acclaimed albums and touring extensively throughout Europe with artists including Tortoise, Mouse on Mars, Superchunk, and Les Thugs, the band entered an extended hiatus before re-emerging with renewed creative energy.
