Lush analog synthesizers, ethereal guitar, and cinematic vistas

The Precious Dark is the newest collaboration by electronic artists David Helpling and Eric 'The' Taylor. These seven pieces revel in the exploration of the unknown, and launch both artists into uncharted creative territory. Taylor's lush analog synthesizers, Helpling's ethereal guitar and cinematic vistas are here, but The Precious Dark is melancholier than previous efforts as part of the Dark Sky Alliance or much of their individual work. Sparse expanses stretch, making emotive climaxes all the more sweeping; and therein lies the theme of The Precious Dark: that in a vast unknown, those rare moments of finding are colossal, that ecstasy means more when held beside austere ambience.

Like our universe in the Big Bang: once nowhere, then everywhere, the fast rise and sudden pervasiveness of AI technology impacted the approach to The Precious Dark. Helpling and Taylor, in response to the new found omnipresence of thinking machines, created an album bereft of inorganic beings. The Precious Dark was created entirely on guitar, piano and analog synthesizer--and side by side in the studio. Just two people in a room with their instruments.

And together, they created something emotive and beautiful, something intimate and immediate: a haven of stillness in our ever-accelerating world.
