Anthem marks the long-awaited return of Aba Ariginal, his first full-length release since 2017. Best known for his work as a musician, arranger, songwriter, and producer, Aba Ariginal draws upon decades of experience in reggae and dub to deliver a collection that celebrates the genre's enduring spirit while showcasing his distinctive musical voice. Blending original vocal performances with expansive dub reinterpretations, the album reflects both his roots and his continued evolution as a recording artist.
From 1984 through 1994, Aba Ariginal performed with UB40 as part of the band's renowned horn section, contributing both live and in the studio as a horn arranger while also playing keyboards and bass. His arranging work helped shape several UB40 releases, including the multi-platinum Promises and Lies, which sold more than 12 million copies worldwide. Beyond his work with UB40, he has collaborated extensively with leading reggae producers and artists throughout Europe and Jamaica, earning international recognition under the name Patrixx Matic di Aba Ariginal for his influential horn arrangements and production work.
Anthem features original reggae compositions alongside instrumental dub versions, including collaborations and a remix with legendary producer Lee 'Scratch' Perry.
